Entelar Group & Spark NZ have advised the New Zealand Telepermit System and Access Standards will be phased out on 1 September 2026<\/a>. This reflects a decline in the number of applications over the past few years, as more people switch to mobile, ethernet, and VoIP services.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

While new Telepermit applications can still be made until 1 September, longer processing times may not result in the application being completed prior to the shutdown.<\/p>\n

New products for the New Zealand market must still adhere to requirements for electrical safety, EMC, radiocommunications, and energy efficiency (where applicable). With the shutdown of the Telepermit website and PTC register, the PTC standards for telecoms products will no longer apply.<\/p>\n

Existing Telepermits remain valid.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

As a Recognised Testing Authority (RTA), Comtest has been testing telecoms products to New Zealand standards since 1996. This has included testing for analogue telephones, PABXs, VoIP, ADSL and VDSL modems, ISDN, and more.<\/p>\n

While saddened to see the closure of the Telepermit system, we have seen the rapid changes in technology and network operation during this time, and understand the decision.<\/p>\n

For the Australian market, similar telecoms standards such as AS\/CA S002, AS\/CA S003, and AS\/CA S004 are still mandatory.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
